The year is 39 ABY. The Yuuzhan Vong war is long over, but there are still bitter feelings on both sides. One radical splinter group of shapers, intent on garnering favor with the Jedi and paying homage to the ones they have come to respect, have created a gift for Tahiri Veila: a child. Created from samples of the genetic material of Anakin Solo in addition to hers and superimposed on human stem cells, they have kept him until he was six years of age.
They call him 'Ascha', for 'gift', until his recipient comes up with her own name.
